Woodside Library Dudley

Overview

Woodside Library opened in 1894 and was refurbished in the early 70s, but in 2008 the library was closed and left empty. The work on the library was not an easy task, but it was the perfect building to see the skills and craftsmanship needed in 19th century Black Country.

During our time on site at the library we have found some interesting pieces, from a piece of architrave on the stairs with the name Joseph Round hand written on the back, to a time capsule filled with news papers (Dudley Herald, Birmingham Post and Gazette), handwritten note's and a letter (to the Earl of Dudley).

Our Services

  • historical building and structure relocation

    Historical Building Translocation& Structure Relocation

Buildings of historical interest often come under threat from encroaching societal pressures, sometimes caused by urban regeneration, sometimes simpler commercial pressures. In these instances, translocating the building to a new site may be an ideal solution, saving the structure and affording the opportunity to restore a building to its former glory.

Recording and cataloguing each individual brick, piece of stone, window, door and all other physical features, preserves the accuracy and historical merit of the structure.
